Price Tier Basics

Price Tiers are used to have different prices on different days or times, as well as to set membership card or discount card pricing.
Price tiers can be activated by day and time, with a membership or discount card, or can be manually turned on or off. An example of using a price tier would be creating a price tier to sell all Domestic beers for $2 less from 12 noon to 7pm on Saturday.

Price Types A F %

Depending on how a menu item is priced, and how the price tier works determines how you need to set your prices. A F % gives you the flexibility you need to easily price just about anything.

A: Actual. You're ACTUALLY charging a specific dollar amount.

Example: If you want to charge $5 for a sandwich, no matter what it originally cost, set to A, and put 5.00 in the base price field.
If your regular prices change, these will still charge $5 each.

F: Fixed Adjustment. Giving a specific dollar amount off an item.

Example: If you want to give $1 off for sandwiches, set to F, and put -1.00 in the base price fields. Now each sandwich is $1 off.
If your regular prices change, the special prices will change with them, and will stay $1 off.

%: Percent. Giving a percentage off an item.

Example: If you want half off sandwiches, set to % and put .50 in the base price field.
If your regular prices change, the special prices will change and will stay half off.

To set up price tiers for a menu item to automatically adjust prices for specials, you will need to:

  • Select one or more price tiers to apply to that menu item.
  • Set prices for those price tiers.
  • Define the times when those tiers apply.

If you have those three steps done, your price tier should work and change prices for you automatically.
