Monitor Troubleshooting

The most common reasons a monitor is unresponsive or remains blank after touching the screen are as follows:

  1. The monitor's power button has been accidentally pressed and it is off.
  2. One of the connections on the back of the monitor or at the computer is loose. For connection info, look here.
Note: Should you discover or suspect the green (serial) cable was unplugged when the computer was started, the computer MUST be restarted for the touchscreen to work.
  3. The computer is turned off.
  4. If your computer is velcro'd to the back of the monitor and is blue, your HDMI-VGA converter may be dead.
If this is the case, rebooting the machine will show you the text, and the terminal will show up in system health on the server, but you will have a black screen. To check this, follow the menu path Setup config > Hardware > System Health > Clients.
The HDMI-VGA adapter will need to be replaced.
  5. If your monitor is black, you could also have a networking issue between that machine and the server. If your machine doesn't show up correctly in system health on the server, then it is likely a networking issue. To check this, follow the menu path Setup config > Hardware > System Health > Clients.
Check your network cable on the machine and check all network cables at the switch.
